Finishing a book is often a tedious process. When you think you have finished writing all the contents, there remains the very important but enormously tedious task of correcting the proofs (we do this on a provisional PDF of the book) and taking note of all the corrections pending to be incorporated into the final text.

After correction, the analytical index remains to be made. It consists of extracting the most representative terms from the text and locating the pages where these terms are included in order to facilitate the location of information on a given topic by future readers. In my case, I use Apple’s Preview functionality on the PDF of the book. When searching for a term, Preview lists at once all the pages of the book where the term appears, making this job easier than it would be with Adobe Reader, where you have to scroll page by page to each match.

I tend to arrive with just enough strength at the end of each book. Its elaboration is an added workload to SEO consulting, Human Level Communications management and teaching in multiple training programs. But there are two aspects that stimulate me and help me to finish rounding off the work: on the one hand, the e-mails and calls from my editor, Eugenio Tuya, encouraging me and, on the other hand, thinking about who I am going to dedicate so many hours of work to.

I have always found the dedication of a book to be a golden opportunity to make public recognition and, to a certain extent, to settle a debt in the form of gratitude. I agree with Juan Carlos Bondy who shares his reflections on the art of dedicating books in this splendid post.

At Técnicas Avanzadas de Posicionamiento en Buscadores, the dedication on this occasion goes to my lifelong (or almost lifelong) friends. While we cannot choose our family -for better or worse, we have the one we have been given- we find, gain and, sometimes unfortunately, also lose friends along the way. They are the people with whom in a more special, closer and more intense way we wish to share our passage through the world. Octavi, Mónica, Ángel, Esteban and José Antonio (in memoriam): thank you for your friendship.
