What is a GA4 migration?

What our service includes

Audit of UA and GA4 properties

We audit and review your properties, their setup and correct data collection. We check the UA configuration and detect what information we can configure in GA4.

GA4 basic configuration

The first step is to create your GA4 property, then we will perform the setup of the tracking code and the basic configuration of the property based on the particularities of each website.

Establish a measurement plan

After getting to know the website, its sections and elements, we create a measurement strategy to define the events we need to implement.

Technical implementation of events and conversions

By using Google Tag Manager, we create the necessary tags and triggers to measure the defined events. After this, we set up the conversions in GA4.

Review and verification of data collection

After implementation we make sure that the events are collected correctly.

Data visualization

We create custom dashboards and reports in Looker Studio for you to keep track of your data and have an overview of your business.

When was Google Anaytics 4 launched?

Google Analytics 4 was launched in October 2020 and has been coexisting with Universal Analytics since then, with the option to have a parallel property to UA.

The official end date for Universal Analytics was July 1, 2023*. As of this date, the standard Universal Analytics properties will no longer process data, and it will be necessary to have a property created in GA4 for data to be collected in the new Google solution. After July 1, 2023, Universal Analytics history will continue to be accessible for a minimum of 6 months. After this time, access to data and reports from this Analytics interface will no longer be available. *Universal Analytics 360 properties with an active term will receive a one-time extension until July 1, 2024.

If as of July 1, 2023, you have not created a GA4 property or have not configured it correctly, you will lose web traffic information. A migration is also not only about installing the tracking code, it is necessary to move and/or adapt UA’s configuration, events and goals to the new Google Analytics measurement platform to continue to collect this information and keep track of it. The faster you migrate to GA4, the more time you will have to transition and adapt to the new property and the more historical data you will have available for comparison.

When the deadline announced by Google arrives, Universal Analytics will come to an end and the data of this property will be inaccessible. For this reason, it is advisable to save the history of all relevant reports that you wish to keep. Among the different options for keeping this data are: manually exporting the reports you want to keep, linking Google Analytics with Bigquery, using the Google Analytics API or using extensions with Google Sheets.
